Construction services

Framing, concrete and siding

Alongside custom homes and remodels, we take on the trade work that other builders and property owners hire out: framing, flatwork and siding. Contractors across the Treasure Valley call us for framing in particular.

Framing

Framing is one of our most requested services, and we are consistently sought after by contractors throughout the Treasure Valley. It is the first step in a solid, structurally sound building, and it is unforgiving of shortcuts. Our team knows the local building codes and works to a schedule that other trades can plan around.

If it takes a stick of wood and a nail, we will put it together. The projects we frame most often:

  • Residential homes. Once the foundation is complete, framing is next. Years of it, for clients throughout Canyon County.
  • Apartments and condominiums. Multi-family work is a large undertaking on the construction side, and we are happy to take it on.
  • Agricultural buildings. This is a fast-growing suburban area, but the roots here are rural. Barns, stables and shelters for animals or equipment.
  • Garages, shops and sheds. A freestanding building for storage or workspace still needs a frame built properly.
  • Gazebos, pergolas and decks. Cover for a patio or deck that keeps sun, leaves and snow off it.
  • Porches and sunrooms. Added to a house or replacing one that has had its day.

Wall framing or roof framing, we handle both.

Shops and outbuildings

A shop is one of the more satisfying projects on this list, because it is usually the building someone has been planning in their head for years. We frame garages, shops, sheds and agricultural buildings, and we can pour the slab underneath at the same time, which keeps the schedule tight and the responsibility in one place.

If you are weighing a detached shop against an attached garage, or a pole building against stick framing, call and talk it through before you commit to a plan. It is a short conversation that saves money.

Concrete

Concrete sits under nearly every building, and it is where a lot of problems start if it is done badly. We have years of experience pouring it and we charge competitively for it. What we pour:

  • Foundations. In Idaho that is usually some variation of slab, crawl space or basement, depending on the grade of your property, the intended use, flood probability and how deep the ground freezes.
  • Walkways. A straightforward sidewalk, or a custom stamped path.
  • Retaining walls. Where there is a slope, a retaining wall protects the house and the landscaping from what gravity and temperature swings do over time.
  • Hot tub pads. Without one, a tub sinks or cracks.
  • RV pads. Most RVs need a well-engineered, fully cured slab of four to six inches to sit level through the offseason.
  • Extended driveways, porches and patios. Poured to last, without much fuss on your part.

Concrete gets overlooked as a design choice. Beyond slabs and driveways, stamped, colored and textured concrete makes an elegant porch or patio and turns a retaining wall into part of the landscape rather than an apology for the slope.

Siding

We install new siding on homes, apartments and other buildings, and replace old siding that has stopped doing its job. We work in wood, engineered wood and fiber cement, all of which last decades with low maintenance and can be painted any color you like.

The brands we use: TruWood, an engineered wood with the look of traditional hardwood and fewer of its problems. Hardie Board, a fiber cement that resists cracking, expanding and shrinking. LP SmartSide, engineered hardwood that costs more up front and carries a long warranty.

We do not install vinyl or stucco.

Siding is worth replacing rather than repairing once the maintenance gets frequent: exposure to rain, snow, temperature swings and UV warps and fades it, pests work their way in behind it, and water that seeps past it leads to mold and rot. New siding is engineered against the problems the old siding developed.
